About Our School
At Rufino Mendoza, Sr. Elementary School, we are more than just a school—we are a vibrant, joyful community dedicated to nurturing and inspiring our 500 incredible students from Pre-K through 5th grade! Located in the heart of Fort Worth's Northside, we proudly serve our neighborhood with passion, commitment, and a deep love for learning.
Since we first opened our doors in 1910 as the 15th District School, we have been a beacon of hope and opportunity for families on the Northside. Formerly known as Denver Avenue Elementary, our school was renamed to honor Rufino Mendoza, Sr., a visionary leader who championed the educational needs of Fort Worth’s Hispanic community. His efforts in enhancing curriculum, bilingual education, staff development, and inclusive school policies continue to inspire us today.
We carry forward Rufino Mendoza, Sr.'s unwavering belief that every child can learn and thrive when given the right opportunities. Every day, we work with urgency and joy to create a dynamic and supportive environment where our students can excel, dream big, and build a bright future. Join us on this exciting journey of growth and discovery—because together, we can make a difference in every child's life!
